What Phone Will I Have?
Two series of sets will be deployed through out the VCU/VCUHS campuses. Generally, the 4600 series will be used for University settings and the 2400 series will be used for Hospital settings. While both series provide almost identical feature sets, the 4600 series will utilize the VCU data network while the 2400 series connects through the existing telephone infrastructure.
The Avaya 4600 Series IP and 2400 Series Digital Telephones deliver an extensive suite of software features, high audio quality, and attractive streamlined design. Their most attractive feature-their purchase price, $0! Departments will no longer need to allocate funds to the purchase of telephone equipment. A monthly charge per phone will provide both the set and support for all users. Costs will only be incurred for additional cabling or loss due to theft or damage. Major benefits include their easy to use features, easy-to-read graphic displays and sophisticated security capabilities.

AVAYA 4610 and 2410The 4610 IP and 2410 Digital Telephone will prove to be the most popular set on campus. New call coverage capabilities will allow most users that have larger sets currently to take advantage of the 4610’s capabilities. With its graphic display screen, paperless button labels, call log, speed dial, 12 programmable feature keys (up to 10 line appearances), and full duplex speakerphone it will meet or exceed the needs of the majority of users. AVAYA 4602 and 2402The 4602 IP and 2402 Digital Telephone has much of the functionality of its larger cousin the 4610/2410. This set has two programmable call appearance/feature keys, ten fixed feature buttons, and a 2x24 character display. Departments should look to this set as a possible replacement for single line stations, wall phones and some Eagle telephones. Since this set has a one-way, listen only speaker it is ideal for areas where noise may be an issue such as open, cubicle spaces. AVAYA 4620 and 2420The 4620 IP and 2420 Digital Telephone is designed for those few areas that require more line appearances (up to 20). It is the only set that can support the addition of a busy lamp field and would be appropriate for main answering positions that handle a high volume of incoming calls. Like the 4610/2410, the 4620/2420 comes equipped with a high quality, two-way speakerphone. It is important to note that with the additional call coverage capabilities it may not be necessary for a department to incur the additional cost of the 4620/2420. Options should be discussed with your Analyst during the station review process.
